Our Insights hub is here to help you better understand the NDIS and how to access the support you need. Whether you are new to the scheme or seeking answers to specific questions, we have got you covered.

Your Guide to the NDIS

Empowering you to understand, access, and navigate the NDIS with clarity and confidence.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government-funded program that provides people with permanent and significant disabilities the support they need to live fulfilling, independent lives.

It enables participants to access personal supports, therapy, equipment, and services that help them engage in everyday life, connect with their communities, and work towards their goals.

The NDIS empowers individuals to exercise choice and control – supporting a life of dignity, purpose, and inclusion.

You may be eligible for the NDIS if you:

  • Are aged between 9 and 65
  • Are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa
  • Have a permanent and significant disability that impacts your ability to complete daily activities

The NDIS funds a wide range of supports that may include:

  • Personal care (e.g. showering, dressing, mealtime assistance)
  • Therapy (e.g. physiotherapy, psychology, speech therapy)
  • Community participation and transport
  • Support with employment and life skills
  • Assistive technology and home modifications
  • Nursing, exercise physiology, and other clinical services

Each participant receives a personalised plan based on their goals and support needs.

To apply for the NDIS:

  1. Call the NDIS on 1800 800 110 or visit ndis.gov.au
  2. Provide documents showing your age, residency, and how your disability affects your daily life
  3. If eligible, you’ll be contacted for a planning meeting to develop your individual NDIS plan

You can also get help from a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or support coordinator to guide you through the application process.
